You know that feeling when coasting through a brisk active day or an outdoor excursion and yet finding yourself relaxed? We feel a little like that right now - as we introduce the performance polo. Classy and decidedly athletic, the performance polo keeps you relaxed as you lap up your active hours. It's where the performance meets the polo.

Pique the right fabric

Featuring a technical knit with a sharp initial
hand-feel, the polo graduates with successive wears to natural softness. We started with a quick-drying polyester fiber, and blended it with moisture-wicking supima cotton in a pique knit. A textured fabric with perforations to enhance airflow, the pique knit keeps the polo breathable, while the anti-odour finish keeps the sweat odour at bay.

What gives is a tee that keeps you fresh
and comfortable over hours, a blend that's hard to beat in a polo.

The Polo re-imagined

We wanted a performance top that retains the classic aesthetics of the polo. We took our pique knit and added features like a minimal two-button placket, clean lines, and lean tapering sleeves: the result is a polo that pairs equally well on the trail as it does on the court.

P.S.
The Manipur connection:
Tracing the roots of the polo tee.

While we aren't sure of its exact origin, the roots of the polo shirt can be traced to the birthplace of Polo: Manipur, India. The traditional polo uniform during this time featured long-sleeve cotton shirts, and to avoid the collars flapping during the game, the players attached buttons to secure them in place. These button-downed collar shirts worn by the polo players served as the inspiration for the original shirts designed by Manhattan-based brooks brothers in 1896.

In the early 1900's a certain French tennis legend Jean Rene Lacoste modified the original polo shirt to short sleeves and cotton pique fabric to inspire the modern day Lacoste polo. Given its roots linked to India, it was only befitting that we give our shot at re-designing the classic polo. And we couldn't be more kicked about it.
